Beauty comes from a healthy body──
It is widely known that vinegar, the main ingredient in pickles, is effective in relieving fatigue, increasing appetite, and improving high blood pressure, but what has been attracting attention recently is the presence of plant-based lactic acid bacteria. This bacteria reaches deep into the intestines alive and is excellent for boosting immune function. In addition, pickles are rich in vitamin C, so you can expect great effects on beauty such as whitening and beautiful skin, as well as preventing colds.

The Heart of the Sun: What the Sun Taught Me

太陽の心・太陽が教えてくれた事

The boy jumped up and ran to a main street a short distance from his house. It was still pitch black, and the sky was filled with stars. A truck appeared on the dark street, and a stack of newspapers was dropped at the boy's feet. He carried the stack of newspapers on his back and carried it home, panting. The boy, who was delivering two types of newspapers, rearranged them in the order they were to be delivered, and stacked them in the front basket and the rear carrier of his bicycle. At first, he couldn't pedal because of the weight of the newspapers he had piled up. He started delivering them house by house, rolling his bicycle. When the newspapers in the front basket were free, the boy finally got on his bicycle and started delivering them. Even so, the boy, who was the shortest in his grade, couldn't reach the saddle with his hips. He had no choice but to pedal while standing. The river was frozen, and he pedaled desperately while listening to the cries of stray dogs and wild birds nearby. The ice-cold air seeped mercilessly into his useless woolen gloves. His fingertips, numb from the cold, throbbed in time with his heartbeat. Even though he wasn't sad, he couldn't bear the pain and large tears flowed down his cheeks without stopping. By the time he finished his delivery, the sun had started to rise and the surroundings had brightened, and his whole body was enveloped in a warm light. He felt so happy that he forgot about his fatigue, his hunger, and the pain in his fingertips. To the boy, the sun seemed like a precious friend, irreplaceable by anything else. He realized that he was unconsciously having a conversation with the sun. After his delivery, he ran to school. Sitting in a chair in a classroom bathed in warm light, the boy unfolded his textbook and held it up right in front of his face. Lack of sleep and fatigue hit him all at once, and he tried desperately to endure the drowsiness that drove him crazy…

"The boy rode on the back of a dragon and flew towards the warm sun" ☀

60 years later, the old boy felt nostalgic for the time when he distributed newspapers while feeling the sun as his friend. He vividly remembered the sun that taught him not only warmth and brightness, but also kindness, strength, compassion, and the strength to live, including size, breadth, dreams and hopes. He wandered around looking for the sun of his distant childhood, which he had never looked back on, being busy with work and life. The sun, like a sunflower that had looked at him kindly as a boy, never appeared again in front of the old boy who had lost his innocent heart with age. Realizing this, the old boy, seeking the sun of his time as a friend, drew his brush on the drawing paper day after day, layering colors. In the course of searching for memories of the past, the sun, which has been colored over time, begins to speak of memories from long ago, rather than of the old boy who created it.

It has been 30 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The city of Kobe has rebuilt and developed without leaving any scars from the earthquake, and time seems to have flown by so quickly, but even now, each and every scene from that time comes vividly to my mind. The electricity, gas, and water supply were cut off, and the city lost its function as a city. People had nothing to eat or drink, and even the toilets could not be used. And those who had lost everything and were at the bottom of despair stood there incredibly quietly, without crying, in the rubble of the city. The collapsed houses remained damaged and unstable, and it was as if time had stopped. It was strange that the whole city felt quiet even though aftershocks were still occurring frequently and the situation was extremely dangerous. At night, the cold Rokko Odori wind covered the city and the temperature dropped to below freezing. Unable to sleep due to the cold and hunger, I wrapped my body in a sleeping bag and looked up at the deep, clear night sky with a cold wind. Many shooting stars flashed and disappeared. Then I realized that I had been sobbing without realizing it.
